Weatherization

Weatherization is a home repair program focused on providing families with healthful dwelling environment and maximum energy conservation. From staff assessments, services could include, but are not limited to caulking, window and door replacement, insulation, weather stripping, heating and air conditioning, ect. This program serves hundreds of families per year.

To be eligible for services, families must meet the government set income guidelines.

You might qualify! The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs provides services to make homes warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer through the Weatherization Assistance Program of Panhandle Community Services. The Weatherization Assistance Program is not a renovation or rehabilitation program; therefore the program does not address cosmetic improvements or other work which dose not directly affect the energy efficiency of your house. The condition of every house is different. An assessment will be made of your house to identify the location of cracks, holes and areas where air escapes. In the winter this means cold air entering the house and warm air escaping. Naturally in the summer this works in reverse, hot air enters and if you use an air conditioner or evaporative cooler, expensive cool air escapes.

This is an Equal Opportunity Program. Discrimination is Prohibited by Federal Law.

Weatherization costs and the work done on a house will vary based on the condition of the house and availability of funds.

Applications are required to qualify by income guidelines. For more information, contact your local PCS office at 806.372.2531 or County Judge. Relay Texas 1.800.735.2988.
