HUD Rental Assistance

As a HUD Housing Authority, Panhandle Community Services promotes the “Fair Housing Act” that strives to achieve affordable and decent living environments for all people.

Hundreds of Section 8 vouchers for rental assistance are issued throughout the 26 countries to serve thousands of Texas Panhandle residents.

SnackPak 4 Kids

Panhandle Community Services (PCS) and “SnackPak 4 kids” are partnering to provide healthy weekend snacks for children living in “food insecure homes.”

The intent of this program is to provide weekend food for those children who already receive free breakfast and/or reduced school lunches based on family income.

Transportation Services

Panhandle Transit operates a large fleet of vehicles that provide rural transportation across the Texas Panhandle with curb-to-curb service, in-town or out-of-town, for a very nominal fee with 24 hour notice.

Panhandle Transit serves as the non-emergency medical transportation provider for all 26 counties, including the City of Amarillo.

Weatherization

Weatherization is a home repair program focused on providing families with healthful dwelling environment and maximum energy conservation.

From staff assessments, services could include, but are not limited to caulking, window and door replacement, insulation, weather stripping, heating and air conditioning, ect. This program serves hundreds of families per year.

Utility Assistance

Utility assistance is available for households that qualify based on government set income guidelines.

Electric bills, gas bills, heaters, air conditioners, water heaters, and other appliances are types of assistance that are available for the elderly, disabled, and other households.

Thousands of individuals are assisted through this program throughout the year.

Hilltop Pantry Program

Are you seeking help with food, household items and/or pampers? Our pantry is available every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 8:00 am – 11:00 am.

PCS Express

Rolling outreach vehicles, the PCS Express fleet, was created to provide services to the residents of our region.

Atmos Energy donated the vehicle wraps that displays a list of the services that the organization provides, contact information, and vivid colorful pictures that all supply ongoing advertising for Panhandle Community Services.

RSVP

Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) matches the personal interest and skills of seniors age 55 and older with opportunities to help solve significant problems for their community and meet the needs of fellow citizens.
